Laurel Hill State Park offers 4,062 acres of mountainous terrain and beautiful 63-acre Laurel Hill Lake. The lake has a small, 1,200-foot white sand beach, with a lovely pier where you can jump into the cool and refreshing lake water⁠. It is open daily from late May until the middle of September. The beach is clean and well maintained, a nice small place to swim or rent a kayak or canoe. The reviews for this beach seem to be all positive.

The park also has some of the best hiking trails in Pennsylvania. Observe the diversity of plants and wildlife, explore the two must-sees – The Jones Mill Run Dam, and Hemlock Trail Natural Area, go fishing and swimming in summer and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter months. The park is open every day of the year, and it is pet friendly.

Laurel Hill State Park is a mountainous part of the Laurel Highlands and is located in Somerset County. The main attraction here is Laurel Hill Lake, where most visitors embark on a boat, canoe or kayak trip. Besides this, it is characterized by pristine forest lands. The park can be explored by a network of hiking and biking trails, including the Hemlock Trail Natural Area.

Laurel Hill State Park is also the main hub for those who enjoy watersports but do not need adrenalin. Here you can rent kayaks, canoes, and sup boards at a decent rate. Laurel Hill Lake is the best place to enjoy a pleasant trip on the water.

Laurel Hill State Park has three picnic areas. The first picnic area has a playground, a ballfield, and horseshoe pits. The second picnic area is near the beach and also has a playground. The third picnic area is near the boat launch and mooring area. 

Gasoline-powered boats are prohibited on Laurel Hill Lake. Non-powered and electric-powered boats are allowed.

There are a number of lodging options in the park.

Campground: The campground has 262 tent or trailer sites. 149 of these sites have electrical connections. The campground has modern washhouses with flush toilets, showers, drinking water, and two sanitary dump stations.

Campground: There are eight cottages available to rent at Laurel Hill State Park. Each cottage has electric lights, outlets, and an electric heater. They sleep up to five people and have wooden floors, glass windows, and a screened-in porch. The yard areas have a picnic table and a fire ring.

Laurel Hill Lodge is a modern two-story lodge with a large fireplace and cathedral ceilings. It has a private deck that overlooks the park and Laurel Mountain. The lodge is equipped for winter recreation. It has racks for skis and snowboards and for drying gloves and boots. There are five bedrooms that can sleep up to 14 people. There are 3 bathrooms, 1.5 kitchens, and a recreation room.
