Getaway Description

Coopers Rock State Forest is a beautiful, large park that features canyon overlooks, historical sites, 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, sandstone cliffs for climbing and bouldering, cross-country ski terrain, a lake perfect for reeling in trout, and a nearby river for rafting. All the hiking trails are well-marked for the visitors not to get lost.

The Coopers Rock Trail leads to a gorgeous overlook. It is a short and easy hike and you walk out on the edge of a large rock with a railing. The views are just astonishing!

Another interesting trail is the Rock City Trail. The first part of the hike takes you through very tall trees. Then, about halfway through, you are surrounded by rocks that are about 15 to 30 feet tall!

For a more rustic view, many people take the 2-miles-hike to Raven Rock. This trail is moderately difficult, but the views are marvelous! Raven Rock juts more into the overlook of the river and gives spectacular views of the river bend. It is one of the best views in the forest! There are no railings there, so, please, be extremely careful while hiking!

The forest has a number of camping areas with plenty of picnic tables and charcoal grills, clean restroom facilities in the area, pavilions for group events, a gift shop, and a playground available for kids.

🐶 Pets Allowed: yes

Cost

The entrance to the forest is free. The cost depend on the accommodation you pick.
