Getaway Description

Presque Isle State Park is a 3,200-acre sandy peninsula that arches into Lake Erie. It is one of the most visited state parks in Pennsylvania. The park meets more than four million visitors every year!

There are multiple recreational activities such as swimming in pristine beach areas, boating, kayaking, fishing, hiking, bicycling, rollerblading, scuba diving, surfing, picnicking, or just relaxing on the beach and watching the birds. Imagine, there are more than 300 different avian species documented in this park!

Ice fishing, ice skating, ice hockey, and other ways to explore the area are at your disposal on a snowy winter day.

There are 13 unique sandy beaches at Presque Isle, all of which are located on the park's lakeside. Sparkling water, waves, and the sun will bring you tons of delight!

You can also visit Presque Isle Lighthouse, one of the most historic spots in the park. For a small fee, you can even go inside the lighthouse and learn more about its history. Then, you can get up on the top of the tower to see a panoramic view of Lake Erie!

The park is open from dawn to dusk.

Where To Stay

There are no campgrounds or hotels at Presque Isle State Park, but there are many places to stay within walking distance from the park.

We recommend Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel, the area's first waterfront hotel with magnificent lakefront views. The rooms are stylish and clean, accommodations are all renovated. The amenities include a pool, indoor pool, hot tub, restaurant with special diet menus, fitness center with gym, walking tours, outdoor fireplace, and much more. There are only two lakefront hotels close to Presque Isle State Park. One is Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel (see above) and the second one is Courtyard by Marriott Erie Bayfront. Both hotels have great lake views, access to the lake, and great reviews on TripAdvisor.

If you are looking for a cheaper option, consider Glass House Inn or Hampton Inn Erie-South, both are highly recommended by visitors of Presque Isle.
